Send That Tune

“It’s just a perfect day. I’m glad I spent it with you.” Those words kept singing in my head.  I had no idea where they came from, but they totally described Mother’s Day 2020 for me.

So today I looked them up.  They are the first two lines of the third stanza of the song “Perfect Day.”

“Oh, it’s such a perfect day

I’m glad I spent it with you.”

The stanza then continues—

“Oh, such a perfect day

You just keep me hanging on

You just keep me hanging on”

The song was first recorded and released in 1972 by Lou Reed.  Duran Duran followed in 1995.  And in 2010 Susan Boyle released her version.  It’s her recording that kept looping through my mind.

As I read the lyrics and then listened to the recording, words in the next stanza caught my attention.

“Just a perfect day

Problems left all alone”

For at least one day in this Age of Covil-19.
